Imphal: Decrying the bomb attack at the residence of the founder member of the Wushu Association of Manipur and a coach, Mayanglambam Biramani, locals of Bhramapur Nahabam Leikai, Imphal East, protested at the basketball ground of the locality on Wednesday.
Biramani’s son Amitkumar is a neurosurgeon at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS). JNIMS fraternity also staged sit-in at the hospital complex.
Yungkham Indira daughter-in-law of Biramani said Tuesday night bomb attack in the residential area was an attempt to kill all the family members of Mayanglambam and was not just a threat. The unknown assailants should clarify why the attack was carried out, she added.
She strongly condemned the attack as a 12-year-old girl was injured, which might kill her life.
There is no monetary demand from any organization and no enmity with any individuals or groups, she said.
There are some internal matters within the Wushu association, which is suspicious of the attack, but this is not confirmed, she added.
Indira said those unknown miscreants should clarify at the earliest why the bomb attack was conducted.
A member of Bhramapur Nahabam Leikai Meira Paibi, Kh Sanatombi said the attack in the congested residential area is highly condemnable. The blast could have killed many in the locality. If there are any misunderstandings, they could have been negotiated.
Medical superintendent in-charge of JNIMS, Dr. M. Kameshore said Amitkumar has been serving as a neurosurgeon in the hospital for years. He was also one of the doctors of the hospital who dedicated himself to caring for sick people during the pandemic. He has been serving the injured and sick people admitted to the hospital in connection with the ongoing crisis.
The staff of the hospital strongly condemn the bomb attack conducted at the residence of such a dutiful doctor, he added.
