Imphal: A farmer was hit by a bullet allegedly fired by Kuki terrorist while he was working at his paddy field in Phubala of Bishnupur district on Thursday.
The farmer was identified as Ningthoujam Biren, 60. He was hit by a bullet on his left arm, and rushed to Bishnupur hospital.
About 8-9 rounds were fired towards the paddy field at around 3: 20 pm. They were fired by Kuki people, said a local resident.
Police rushed to the area following the incident. “We are at the spot for investigation,” said police.
There was a claim of firing towards the Meitei inhabited area recently, which was nullified by police. The firing repeated today, said a man at the hospital.
The Thursday incident occurred days after Kuki community obstructed Meitei villagers to plough a paddy field near Sadulampak in Imphal East on Sunday which flared fresh tension between kuki and Meitei.
