Heroin worth Rs 10.48 crore seized in Manipur, 3 arrested

Imphal: Manipur Police recovered a major consignment of contraband Heroin worth over Rs 10.48 crore in the international market on Saturday in Imphal West district and arrested three persons.

“A team of Manipur Police intercepted one Mahindra Thar in front of Imphal Telegraph office under Imphal Police Station, Imphal West district, in which 100 soap cases containing suspected Heroin powder weighing approximately 1.16 Kg were found concealed inside the rooftop of the vehicle,” said Manipur Police Control Room.

The estimated value of the seized contraband could exceed Rs 10.48 crore in the international drug market when calculated as per the earlier police estimation.

The arrested persons who came in the vehicle were identified as Wangpem Lamkang, 20, son of Shetphung Lamkang of Lamkang Khunjai, Chandel district, ⁠Jacop Shangkhil, 18, son of Bening Shangkhil of Japhou, Chandel district and ⁠Wanghon Khular, 18, son of Ramshei Khular of Leipun Tampak, Chandel district.
