Imphal: Women wing of the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (Cocomi), Khwairamband Nupi Keithel Sinpham and Saktam Kanba Lup have pressed the ministers and MLAs to rush to Jiribam by Tuesday to douse the burning situation there.

The women warned the elected people representatives to resign if they cannot solve the Jiribam issue.

Assistant coordinator of Cocomi women wing, Wahengbam Luwangleima, told reporters at Khwairamband Ima Market on Monday that due to the lack of necessary measures from the government, displaced people from Churachandpur, Kangpokpi, and Moreh are still unable to return to their homes.

The Kuki narco-terrorists have started targeting Jiribam, she added.

“Even today, the CM’s advanced security team was attacked. Cocomi will lead the public, will launch an intensified agitation if MLAs and ministers fails to go to Jiribam for an immediate solution to the prevailing chaos. The government should be solely responsible for any unwanted incidents, said Luwangleima.

She alleged that Assam Rifles evacuated the people of Jiribam and helped Kuki in burning down their houses.

“We will launch agitation to declare that we are not related to India,” she added.

Secretary of Khwairamband Nupi Keithel Sinpham and Saktam Kanba Lup, Thingujam Rani, said the Manipur crisis has crossed for over a year. Manipur is still burning due to the failure of both the state and central governments to take stringent action against the Kuki narco-terrorists.

The divide-and-rule act of the central government has made people suspicious of strategizing to cleanse the Meitei people.

“The leaders of Manipur should rise together to save Manipur and its indigenous people. Otherwise they should resign for their failure,” said Rani.
