Imphal: Former Manipur chief minister Okram Ibobi said attacking chief minister’s advance security convoy to Jiribam along NH-37 indicates total failure of the intelligence of state government as he condemned the attack.

Ibobi was talking to reporters at Manipur PCC office here.

Instead of evacuating the people from red zone areas of Moreh, Churachandpur, Kangpokpi, and Jiribam, both the state and central government should protect the people at their respective residences, the Congress leader said.

Clarifying on an allegation made by chief minister N. Biren Singh earlier that Congress party signed an agreement of understanding with a particular community to give separate administration if Congress win the recent election, Ibobi said, the chief minister should prove it.

Two persons were injured when suspected Kuki militants ambushed the advantage security party of the chief minister in Kangpokpi district along the highway leading to Jiribam district on Monday.

The chief minister earlier planned to visit Jiribam on Tuesday. The new schedule of his visit was yet to be confirmed.
