Imphal: Thongminthang Haokip alias Thangboi Haokip alias Roger who was arrested by a team of National Investigation Agency (NIA) from Imphal airport is not related to the outfit, said Kuki National Front-military council on Friday.
In a press release issued by information and public relation of the outfit, Th. Rio Kuki mentioned that Thangboi has nothing to do with the outfit and he has never been enrolled as cadre nor has any connection with the organisation.
His arrest under various sections of IPC and UA (P) Act in case RC-24/2023/NIA/DLI, which was registered suo moto by NIA has nothing to do with the outfit, he added.
In a release issued on Thursday, NIA mentioned that Thangboi is a key accused in a case relating to a transnational conspiracy by insurgents and terrorist gangs to exacerbate the Manipur violence and spread terror in the north eastern states of India.
NIA investigation stated that Thangboi has admitted that he is a member of KNF-MC and United Tribal Volunteers (UTV).
