Imphal: Miscreants in black uniform handed over a live hand grenade covered in a box at the reception counter of Diabetics Hospital and Research Centre, Ayangpalli road, opposite to Karkinos Cancer hospital in Imphal East near JNIMS hospital intimidating to be handed over to Dr Moirangthem Dhanabir.
The incident took placed on Friday morning.
According to police, two men wearing black outfits came inside the hospital and handed over a box saying that it is a medicine and requested to hand over to Dr Moirangthem Dhanabir, who is the managing director of the hospital.
The hospital staff handed over the said box to Dhanabir. When the staff along with Dhanabir opened the box a hand grenade was found inside the box.
Immediately, the matter was reported to Porompat police station.
A team of Porompat police station rushed to the spot and secured the area. Later, a team of bomb disposal squad arrived at the spot and diffused the hand grenade safely at around 2.30 pm.
A case has been registered at police station.
It was the forth tims he had been threatened, Dhanabir said.
Earlier about three months back he was threatened by placing bomb two times at his residence located at DM Campus, Thangmeiband, Imphal. And also a bomb was also placed at his hospital earlier.
“I will take this as life threat,” said Dhanabir.
