Bishnupur SBI cashier apprehended in Delhi

Imphal: The cashier of State Bank of India (SBI) Bishnupur branch, Monarch Laishram who reportedly ran away after stealing cash of around Rs 2 crore was apprehended at North Delhi on Friday.

Monarch Laishram, 41, son of Laishram Chaoba of Kodompokpi Mamang Leikai, under Nambol police station was apprehended by Delhi Crime Branch with close coordination with Delhi Police and Bishnupur district police.

He was apprehended from Patel Chest Christian Colony, opposite Maurice Nagar Police station, North Delhi at around 5.30 pm.

Sources reported that a team of Bishnupur district police will bring back the accused on Saturday by air.

As per complaint report filed by Branch Manager, SBI, Bishnupur Branch at Nambol Police station it is said that Monarch has been working as a senior assistant at the same bank branch. He did not turn up for office since April 2 without any prior information.

The complaint mentioned that Monarch also possess the key of locker room of the same bank. When the staff of the bank open the locker room it was found that a sum of Rs 2 crore was missing. In follow up of the complaint the state police has been tracing Monarch.

It was not confirmed if missing amount has been recovered or not.
