Arms, explosives recovered

Imphal: Security forces continued to recover arms, explosives and ammunitions in search operations in Manipur.

During the last 24 hours, the situation in the State was tense but under control with sporadic congregation of protestors, Manipur Police Control Room said on Wednesday.

Search operations and area domination were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of Imphal West, Imphal East, Bishnupur, Thoubal, Chandel, Kangpokpi and Kakching district.

One country made Pistol with magazine, one CMG with magazine, one country made AK-47 without magazine, three bayonets of AK, two Bayonets of 5.56 INSAS rifle, three 36 HE Grenade, one Chinese Walkie Talkie, three Stun Shell (normal) and two 9mm magazine were recovered from Gwarok Maring, Thoubal district.

The security forces also recovered one Tube Launching 1A, twelve 9mm ammunitions, one HE 36 Hand Grenade, one stun grenade, one smoke grenade, one Radio set with charger from Lilong Laiphrakpam inter village road, Thoubal district.

The police control room said movement of 296 and 228 vehicles along NH-37 and NH-2 respectively with essential items have been ensured. Strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations and security convoy is provided in sensitive stretches in order to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles, it added.

Police detained 322 persons in connection with violations in different districts of the state.

207The police control room appeals to public to return the ‘looted arms, ammunition and explosives’ to the police or nearest security forces immediately.
