Justice Siddharth Mridul sworn in as Chief Justice of Manipur High Court

Imphal: Chief Justice designate of Manipur High Court, Justice Siddharth Mridul was sworn in as the seventh Chief Justice of Manipur High Court.

Governor of Manipur Anusuiya Uikey administered the oath of office to Justice Siddharth Mridul in the swearing in ceremony held at the Darbar Hall of Raj Bhavan in Imphal.

Justice Siddharth Mridul of Delhi High Court was appointed as the Chief Justice of Manipur High Court by the President of India on October 16.

Chief minister N. Biren Singh, Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly Th. Satyabrata Singh, cabinet ministers, MP Rajya Sabha Sanajaoba Leishemba, MLAs, Judges of Manipur High Court and subordinate courts, top civil and police officers attended the swearing in ceremony.

After the swearing-in ceremony, talking to the media, Chief Justice Siddharth Mridul said, he is looking forward for a productive tenure in office. He said, he took stock of the situation and altogether 3,335 cases have been pending in Manipur High Court. He assured that he will look into those pending cases and will try to discharge it at the earliest possible time.

Attorney General for India, R. Venkataramani called on Governor at Raj Bhavan on Friday. Governor informed him about the prevailing situation in the State and informed about her continuous visits to different relief camps both in the hills and in the valley districts of Manipur.

After swearing-in, the Chief Justice met with the governor at Raj Bhavan and discussed about the ongoing situation in Manipur. The governor informed him about the efforts made towards bringing back peace and normalcy by the state and central governments so that the two communities can live togetherĀ asĀ before.
