Guv extends assistance to Manipur violence affected ex-servicemen families

Imphal: Manipur governor Anusuiya Uikey has extended financial assistance and distributed relief materials to 22 violence affected ex-servicemen families on Wednesday. 

The governor handed over a cash amount of Rs 15,000 along with blanket and multi utility box (Jumbo Box) each to the ex-servicemen and their families at Darbar Hall of Raj Bhavan, here. 

Speaking to them, she said, many ex-servicemen and their families have been affected due to the violence in the state. She said, their houses along with belongings have been burnt leaving behind nothing and they have been staying in different relief camps. 

As president of Rajya Sainik Board along with the contribution of Board members, this assistance has been extended and all possible help will be extended further to the affected ex-servicemen, she added. 

Lauding the contribution of ex-servicemen for their service to the nation, the governor said, it is time to help them in this critical juncture and state government has also been informed to provide assistance to the ex-servicemen. 

Seven ex-servicemen families in Churachandpur have already been given such assistance by Governor during her visit to Churachandpur on July 29. 

Hatred among the communities should be removed to restore the sense of brotherhood so that all can live with peace and brotherhood.

Central and state governments have been trying to restore peace and tranquillity and all have to contribute in the efforts to restore normalcy and peace, Anusuiya said. She consoled the violence affected ex-servicemen and their families to live with peace by removing fear and anger.
