Manipur Naga demand to settle peace talks as per Framework Agreement

Imphal: Amid the Meitei-Kuki crisis and demand for Separate Administration of Kuki in Manipur,  people belonging to Naga staged a mass rally in Naga inhabited districts of the state demanding for a successful conclusion of the peace talk between the Naga groups and the Government of India as per the Framework Agreement signed on August 3, 2015.

Organised by the United Naga Council (UNC) the demonstration was staged at the district headquarters of Tamenglong, Senapati, Ukhrul and Chandel amid tight security.

The rally strongly opposed to infringing of Naga inhabited areas to the demand for separate administration by any community in Manipur.

People hold banners embedded ‘Resolve Indo-Naga Political Issue’ and ‘Naga People’s Rally for resolving Indo-Naga Political Issue based on Framework Agreement’ among others.

UNC Working Committee secretary Ch. Thotsho said Naga issue is political not a law and order issue. “We demand sovereign power. We are never part of neither India or Myanmar. Naga have its Unique history and position.”

The UNC had earlier said the peace process made significant progress with the signing of the historic Framework Agreement, the delay in signing the final agreement is a cause of concern.
