Imphal: Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh on Thursday inspected the site at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) for installation of 10 KL Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) Cryogenic Tank, capable of storing approximately 1300 jumbo cylinders.
“This 10KL LMO Cryogenic Tank has reached Silchar today (Thursday) and it will reach Imphal by tomorrow morning,” Biren writeson his Facebook wall.
“The civil work at this site had started earlier, so once this tank arrives, we will be able to install and operationalise the plant in the next three days. This will significantly improve our oxygen production capacity and reduce dependence on other states for oxygen gradually,” he said.
He also inspected another site at JNIMS where another 20KL Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) Cryogenic Tank will be installed.
“While we build up these infrastructure at this unprecedented speed to make sure the best possible care is given to every patient, I urge everyone to please follow the Covid appropriate behaviours prescribed by the government,” Biren said.
“With the alarming rise in Covid cases, we have decided to add another new 50 ICU beds equipped with ventilators in the existing ICU of covid ward and further increase the number of ICU beds upto 100. The officials of health department and administrative authorities of JNIMS are already on the job to get these ICU beds installed at the earliest,” Biren writes in another post.
