Imphal: All Manipur Meitei Pangal Clubs’ Organisation (AMMPACO) has appealed the people of Manipur not to participate in the campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
People should know that the upcoming Lok Sabha election is not important and it is not needed to participate in election campaigns by holding flags of political parties though being a citizen they have to cast their votes, said AMMPACO president Yumkhaibam Rahaman.
Talking to reporters at the organisation’s head office at Hatta on Thursday, Rahaman said Manipur has been burning since Many 3 last year. Announcing the schedule for Lok Sabha Elections, 2024 before making a policy for displaced people due to the crisis is very unfortunate.
He said Manipur is still burning and thousands of people are displaced due to the crisis, moreover, many people settling in vulnerable areas are still living in panicky situation.
“Amid the scenario it is meaningless for a person to participate in election campaign by holding flags for political parties.” It does not mean that the organisation will boycott the upcoming election but people should think wisely before casting their unique vote while electing a right representative, he added.
Due to the turmoil, many grand festival of various communities in Manipur were celebrated in low key, he said and appealed the Muslim communities to celebrate the upcoming Eid al-Fitr in low key for rituals sake.
