Imphal: Unknown miscreants have allegedly kidnapped a central force (defense service corps) jawan of Leimakhong from his residence on Saturday.
The jawan is named as Serto Thangthang Kom, 43, son of Serto Aphun of Litan, Chandel district presently staying at near Seventh Days Adventist Church near, Neikailong, Imphal West.
Thangthang after taking voluntary retirement from 8th Assam Regiment, Leimakhong, was re-engage at Defense Service Corps at Leimakhong. He was on leave from his duty and to join duty on Monday.
Eyewitnesses said he was kidnapped at around 10.15 amĀ by at least 3 persons coming in a white car.
A case has been registered at Lamphel police station for further investigation.
Somiwon Kom who is the wife of Thangthang said at his residence that, her family has been living in the area so that they could send their two children at school. She appealed to release her husband on humanity ground.
President of Kom Union Manipur Serto Ahou Kom said the Kom community has been surviving as one of a minority community in Manipur. However, many community are suspecting that Kom are involved in the present crisis. He said Kom is a peace loving community and the community is not involved siding any community.
He appealed to release Thangthang as any misunderstand could be solved with talks.
