Imphal: During the last 24 hours, the situation in the state was tense with sporadic incidents of firing, said Manipur Police Control Room on Saturday.
Search operations were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of Imphal-West, Imphal-East, Bishnupur, Thoubal, Kakching and Churachandpur districts in which one arm, 14 country made Pumpi, 120 ammunitions, two Kg Gun Powder, 3 Kg country made Pumpi Gun ammunition, one country made Bomb with triggering Mechanism were recovered from Churachandpur district, the police control room said on Saturday.
Movement of 312 vehicles along NH-37 and 316 vehicles along NH-2 with essential items have been ensured. Strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations and security convoy is provided in sensitive stretches in order to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles, it added.
CAPF forces have been deployed in Chingphei and Lower Khoirentak villages.
A total of 131 Checkpoints were installed in different Districts of Manipur, and police detained 2282 persons in connection with violations in different districts of the state.
The police department appeals to general public not to believe in rumours and be aware of false videos. Any circulation of unfounded videos etc may be confirmed from the rumour free number – 9233522822 of Central Control room, it said.
It also appeals to public to return the looted arms, ammunition and explosives to the police or nearest security forces immediately.
