Rongmei council withdraws Total Shutdown against internet ban

Imphal: The total shutdown imposed by Rongmei Naga Council along NH-37 and all national projects in Rongmei Jurisdiction from midnight of Saturday to midnight of Sunday demanding to restore internet in Tamenglong and Noney of Manipur has been withdrawn on Sunday.

The shutdown was withdrawn ‘temporarily’ as the state government has assured to restore Internet service citing security reasons.

The council had served an ultimatum of one week time for restoration of Internet Service in violence/crises free Tamenglong, Noney and along NH-37 on September 8.

It said the general public of violence free districts have been deprived of basic internet services for straight 136 days since the beginning of the crises in the state. This has caused enormous inconviniences and loss to every sections of society. ‘The concern authority had failed to address the basic grievances of the general public in restoration of the internet services and announced the total shutdown’.
