Pothashang News Service: Imphal, March 24, 2020: Manipur government has appealed the Manipur Hawkers Association and All Manipur Newspaper Sales and Distributors Association not to stop distributing newspapers in the hour while people eagerly waits for reliable informations during the present Covid-19 crisis.
Manipur Hawkers’ Association has on Tuesday declared to suspend newspaper distribution from Wedensday during total lock down in the state.
With a view to prevent and contain spread of Covid-19 (Novel Corona Virus disease) in Manipur, the Government of Manipur has taken up numerous precautionary and preventive measures so far. Meanwhile, home
department, has declared that print and electronic media operating in the state of Manipur, among others has been treated as
essential service during the period of lock down till March 31, a statement of appeal released by IPR director H. Balkrisna Singh in a press release said.
It appealed to all the members of Manipur Hawkers Association and All Manipur Newspaper Sales and Distributors Association not to stop the ‘good work’ of distributing newspapers to every household so that accurate and factual information about the present crisis is properly disseminated to the general public and an
atmosphere of free flow of information through print media is maintained in order to combat the threat of Novel Corona virus disease and fake and false information being circulated in various forms of social media in the state.
