Imphal: Weak long observation of 76 edition of Van Mahotsav, Umanggi Kumhei continued with tree sapling plantations in four villages of Chandel district.
About 1500 saplings of fruit, flower bearing trees and decorative plants have been planted with the participation of villagers on Friday.
The event was organised by the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Chandel.
DFO, Chandel, Dr. N. Munal Meitei, said, so far 32, 000 tree saplings have been planted in 14 of 26 locations with the objective to successfully grow the plants through “Ek Padd Maa Ka Naam 2.0” campaign.
The participants need to love and nourish the plants as their mother as she takes care of us, he added.
He appealed all to plant at least a sapling to fulfill the objective of Van Mahotsav in Chandel
