Imphal: Imphal West district administration has ordered to remove all to remove all structures, items and debris encroaching along the national highways, state highways, inter-district roads, inter-village roads and other roads including footpaths located in the Imphal West district by July 11.
District Administration, Imphal West has observed various incidents of unauthorized occupancy by construction of structures in the form of house extensions, shops, sheds or other structures both on permanent and temporary basis and also cases of accumulation of a significant amount of sands, stones, construction materials, waste and debris along the various roads including footpaths within the district causing inconvenience to the public, obstruction to free movement of traffic creating safety hazards to the commuters etc, said an order issued by deputy commissioner, Imphal West on Friday.
The order was issued in exercise of powers conferred upon one under Section 3 of the Manipur Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorised Occupants) Act, 1978.
It directed the concerned unauthorised encroachers and others whoever is applicable within the Imphal West district to remove all such structures, items and debris along roads and footpaths.
“Failure to comply with the order shall invite strict penal action under the relevant Act and will lead to eviction, demolition and removal of the structures, items and debris by the District Administration, district Police and various Line departments and the concerned encroachers or applicable persons shall bear all the cost for such removal of structures and debris.”
