Twin bins distributed to NGOs for door to door waste collection

Imphal: Twin bins were distributed to eleven NGOs which are engaged in door-to-door waste collection under the initiative of the Directorate of Municipal Administration, Housing and Urban Development (MAHUD), at the conference hall of City Convention Centre, Palace Compound, here on Monday.

The Blue Bin was to use for Wet waste and the green bin for dry waste. This campaign of Source Segregation would be covering around 6787 households from both Imphal East and Imphal West districts.

Principal secretary, MAHUD, R.K Dinesh distributed the twin bins to the representatives of the NGOs. Officials of MAHUD department, NGOs from Imphal East and Imphal West and staff of Imphal Municipal Corporation attended the function.

Director, MAHUD, Ng. Uttam said collection of waste with a minimum frequency of thrice in a week for wet, dry and hazardous waste separately would make our roads cleaner and will help this campaign more fruitful.

Addressing the issue, he appealed each and every shop to subscribe to door-to-door collection service. He further stated that all the shops to not only go for GST registrations but also start registering each shop or hotels to IMC.

The distribution function was organised by the Imphal Municipal Corporation.
