Robert Naorem showcases Manipur’s handloom heritage at international fashion show in Amsterdam

Imphal: Renowned fashion designer from Manipur and handloom entrepreneur Robert Naorem continues to promote the region’s rich textile heritage on the global stage.

Naorem on Saturday showcased his latest collection at an exclusive international fashion event organized by the World Fashion Council and the International Model Council at the WestCord Fashion Hotel in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The event featured 16 designers from various countries. His collection was presented by 18 international models, including Mr. World Netherlands 2024.

Titled “Langla,” the collection is a tribute to the cultural and artistic brilliance of Manipur. It blends traditional and modern designs, focusing on sustainable fashion and the revival of handloom weaving.

The garments featured intricate hand embroidery on Manipur’s woven silks, tailored for international appeal. The collection included traditional attire, Indian sarees, and Western silhouettes, all made from the exquisite handwoven fabrics of Manipur.

Naorem’s participation in this prestigious event is seen as a symbol of hope and inspiration for the youth of Manipur. It highlights the potential of the state’s handloom sector and brings global recognition to its textile artistry during difficult times.
