Imphal : BJP central leaders are making serious efforts to create a conducive environment for the restoration of a popular and stable government in Manipur.
This was said by BJP MLA Khongbantabam Ibomcha of Lamlai Assembly Constituency, while talking to reporters at the BJP Bhavan, here on Thursday.
“Establishing a favourable environment for a stable and popular government is crucial. The central leaders have been working tirelessly, engaging with various stakeholders,” Ibomcha said.
Ibomcha, along with other party leaders, met BJP Manipur president A. Sharda Devi ahead of the press briefing. She had recently held discussions with central leaders regarding the political situation in the state.
The MLA appealed to the public to extend their support to the ongoing efforts aimed at restoring democratic governance in Manipur. He was accompanied by fellow BJP MLA Yumnam Khemchand.
Manipur has been under President’s Rule since February 13.
“The party is trying its level best to create a conducive atmosphere. Holding meetings with the central government and various civil bodies from both the Meitei and Kuki communities is part of the roadmap for restoring peace,” said the MLA replying to reporters.
Although the Manipur Legislative Assembly’s term extends until 2027, it has been placed under suspended animation.
State BJP president Sharda Devi recently met central BJP leaders, including national party president JP Nadda and national general secretary (organisation) BL Santosh, to discuss the prevailing political scenario in Manipur.
Since May 3, 2023, the Meitei-Kuki conflict has claimed over 250 lives and displaced more than 60,000 individuals.
