Brown Sugar worth Rs 47.8 crore seized from drug peddler in Churachandpur on Seperation Day

Imphal: While Kuki-Zo community celebrated May 3 as Seperation Day marking the second anniversary of Meitei-Kuki conflict, security forces seized suspected Brown Sugar worth approximately Rs 47.8 crore in the international market from a drug peddler in Churachandpur district.

The drug peddler was identified as Thianmuansiam Samte, 32, of Gamgpimual village in Churachandpur district, which is predominantly inhabited by the Kuki community.

Security forces arrested the drug peddler and seized 5.016 Kg of Brown Sugar.

“The contraband, packed in 418 soap cases, is estimated to be worth Rs 47.8 crore in the international market,” police said.
