Imphal: Security forces recovered bombs, arms and ammunitions when intercepted two individuals near Border Pillar 75 in the general area of T. Minou under Moreh-PS, Tengnoupal District while crossing Indo-Myanmar Border on Thursday.
They were challenged. They escaped by leaving two gunny bags behind, Manipur Police said on Friday.
On checking the bags, one AK 56 rifle with magazine, one INSAS rifle with magazines, one Carbine gun with magazine, six IEDs, two hand grenades, 171 numbers of 5.56 ammunition and 30 numbers of 7.62 ammunition were found.
Intelligence based combing operations and cordon and search operations are being carried out extensively to nab the culprits involved in extortion activities in the state, said Manipur Police.
Police arrested two active members of UNLF (P) frost Uripok Khoisnarn Leikai in front of Central Dental Clinic under Imphal police station, Imphal West district. They were Kshetrirnayum Blish alis Lamyanba, 20, of Kwakeithel Akham Leikai, Imphal West district and Pebam Jet Singh, 26, of Napet Palli Maning Leikai, Imphal East district.
“They were involved in extortion activities from different schools, government officials and the general public located at Imphal area.”
Police said, security forces also arrested one active member of RPF/PLA from a rented house located at Sekmai Awang Leikai under Sekmai-PS, Imphal West district, narnely, Moirangthem Suraj Meetei alias Amujao, 31, of Khabam Larnkhai, Imphal East district.
