Imphal: Shiv Sena Manipur has demanded the central government crack down on the armed Kuki miscreants like as responding swiftly against terrorists after Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 lives and injuring others.

Making the demand, Shiv Sena Manipur president N.Tombi alleged that Myanmarese militants are also involved in the Manipur violence, a fact known over the globe.

He questioned why the government has not taken action against those instigating the crisis.

He cautioned the government that intensified step might be taken with the support of public if the government continues to remain as a silent spectator.

He urged the Indian government to stop the “proxy war” being waged in Manipur.

Tombi questioned the Centre over its failure to take legitimate action to resolve the crisis in Manipur over the past two years, while swift action was taken within two days in response to the Pahalgam terror attack.

He was talking to reporters here on Saturday.

Manipur has been burning since May 3, 2023, with lost of over 250 lives and displace of around 60,000 individuals. All the national highways of Manipur connecting other states have been blocked for Meiteis, Tombi said.

Although Union Home Minister Amit Shah directed, on March 8, for free movement on all roads, some Kuki groups openly defied the directive. “No action has been witnessed against those who challenged Shah’s orders.”

Instead, many illegal armed miscreants continue to collect illegal taxes from the highways despite the deployment of a large number of security forces, he said.

Tombi criticized the central government and national leaders on taking immediate action in the Pahalgam terror attack while it fails to take any active steps toward restoring peace and rehabilitating displaced persons in Manipur.

“Meiteis have been barred by Kukis from visiting pilgrimage sites of Thangjing and Koubru,” he said. “Will the central government remain as a silent spectator if similar incidents occurred at Hindu pilgrimage sites in other states like Gujarat?” He questioned.
