Imphal: Residence of Dr. Moirangthem Dhanabir (endocrinologist) on Dhanamanjuri University campus in Imphal was attacked with a bomb on Friday evening.
Dr. Dhanabir, 44, son of M. Tomba of Uripok Sorbon Thingel, presently stayed at the southern Dhanamanjuri University campus, Imphal.
He is the president of the Akhil Bharitiya Hill Kranti Party Manipur State Unit and also the proprietor of a private diabetic hospital.
According to police, CCTV footage showed an unknown miscreant dressed in women’s clothing hurling a bomb, suspected to be a Chinese-made hand grenade, which exploded at the gate. The miscreant swiftly fled from the spot after throwing the bomb.
No human casualty was reported in the incident. Some of Dhanabir’s properties were damaged.
Police registered a case at Imphal Police station. No claims has been made by any group or individuals on the attack at the time of filing this report.
In January, a hand grenade was hurled at Dhanabir’s residence but did not explode. On June 7, unknown miscreants in black outfit handed over a box containing a hand grenade at Dhanabir’s hospital.
