Imphal: Kangleìpak Communist Party (KCP), Taibanganba (T) group, a militant outfit in Manipur, has listed names of two cops including one former founder general secretary of Anti-Drug committee among 38 individuals alleging of drug trafficking on Sunday.

“They must surrender to the same outfit within 10 days from July 28 (Sunday),” the outfit said.

Clarifying the allegation, president of United Committee Kairang, Khomidok, Khabeisoi, FM Manawar Ali on Monday told media at Khurai Heikrumakhong, Imphal East that among the listed individuals three individuals were found to be from Kairang Khomidok Khabeisoi area. He said among the listed individuals Md Anwar, Md Dilawar audin and Md Kamaruddin were found.

Manawar said said the allegation is baseless.

Md Anwar is a former founder general secretary of an Anti-drug Committee Kairang Khomidok Khabeisoi. Under the committee Anwar along with Dilawar and other members of the committee had conducted various movements including anti-drug drive and activities with an aim to root out drugs and to prevent youths from being a drug victim, he said.

He said before making an allegation the outfit should investigate of the individuals properly.

Md Kamaruddin who serves as a constable in Manipur Police said he is not related to any drug related activities, however, has been supporting in any anti-drug activities.

The proscribed underground outfit without proper verification included his name among the list of drug traffickers, he said. “The outfit should produce proof and evidence within three days. I am ready to receive any punishment from the outfit. If found baseless or fault, the outfit must make a clarification on media for the allegation,” said Kamaruddin.

He said there are various organisation and there is law of land and KCP (Taibangnganba) is not an only organisation.

Another police officer identified as Somi from Kairang Maning Leikai, Imphal East who served as a haviladar at Manipur Police Training Centre has vehemently refuted the allegation.

According to Somi, the UG group had issued a demand through a local news outlet, asking him to surrender to them within ten days.

Addressing the media at the Popular Union Club (PUC) in Kairang, Somi expressed deep dismay over what he termed as baseless allegations tarnishing his image and reputation.

He emphasised that he has no connections whatsoever with any drug-related activities.

“The claims made by the UG group are utterly false and baseless. I challenge them to provide any evidence,” the cop said.
