Imphal: Ahead of chief minister N.Biren Singh’s visit to violence ridden Jiribam district of Manipur a team of an advance security team was attacked by armed militants in Kangpokpi district on Monday.
One security personnel sustained injury.
The chief minister has plan to visit Jiribam in connection with the prevailing situation in the district.
Jiribam has been in chaos after the killing of a man on Thursday. Houses were turned into ashes in Jiribam amid gunfights.
Meitei-Kuki clash has been continuing since May 3 after Kuki launched attack in Meitei villages.
The advance security team was on the way from Imphal to Jiribam when it came under attack at T Laijang village near Kotlen, Kangpokpi district along National Highway-37. The incident occurred at around 10.30 am, said a source.
No group or individual has claimed responsible of the ambush till the filing of this report.
