Imphal: Continuing their agitation demanding to clear 13 monthly pending salary by 603 teachers on RMSA campus, Babupara here on Tuesday, office of the Directorate of Education (S) was locked on Wednesday.
The agitating teachers were recruited in 2018 and was regularised by the present government in 2022.
However, the lecturers have been facing issues for 13 months pending salary even as the lecturers are utilised fully in various government activities.
The lecturers met commissioner Gyan Prakash at his office chamber to discuss the issue of 13 months pending salary and to provide posting for each teacher.
The meeting failed to get a positive response for the lecturers which resulted to the locking of the office and campus of Directorate of Education (S) located at Lamphel, Imphal West.
A protestor told reporters that the lecturers have been working tirelessly with full dedication. Students of government higher secondary schools bagged highest marks in many subjects with the dedication of the teachers.
She said with the contribution and dedication by these lecturers the government higher secondary schools are able to top in class XII examination and other common examinations.
The teachers are providing full effort to bring development for government schools. On the contrary, the teachers are not giving anything in return including their 13 months pending salary, she added.
The lectures cautioned to continue agitation in different forms until their demands are fulfilled.
