Imphal: Daughter of a newspaper hawker, Malemnganbi Laishram has topped in Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur, 2024 examination in Science stream by securing a total of 493 marks with letter marks in all six subjects.
“I dream of becoming a doctor,” said Malemnganbi.
She the eldest daughter of Romen Laishram and Laishram Jugarani Devi of Khurai Sajor Leikai, Imphal East. She appeared the higher secondary examination from Comet School, Changangei Ucheckon, Imphal West.
She gave credit to her parents, family members and teachers.
Malemnganbi said since childhood the family members wanted her to become a doctor and encouraged for it.
The ongoing violence did not ‘affect her study’, but she had an apprehension that what if the syllabus was not covered as the schools were shut down for months.
She said, a student should enjoy reading and studying books and there is no need to be a bookworm to become a topper.
She is an active social media user but she ‘controlled herself while using the social media’.
He father said he feels proud that her daughter will be on different newspapers that he has been delivering at hundreds of doorsteps.
“I will tell my subscribers that my daughter is the topper and she is in the paper if I get chance to meet my daily subscribers”, Romen exclaimed.
The topper’s mother runs a fast food vendor at Sangakpham, Imphal East district.
