Imphal: Security forces in Manipur have recovered arms and ammunitions, and apprehended four militants and another person for illegal possession of ammunition, in the past few days.

On Sunday the security forces recovered one 9 mm carbine machine gun with one magazine, one 9 mm pistol with one magazine, one .22 pistol with one magazine, seven live rounds ammunition from IT road, Kangpokpi district.

On this day Manipur Police arrested one cadre of UNLF (P) identified as Asem Nabachandra Meitei, 41, from MI Road, Imphal West district.

From his possession one .32 pistol along with magazine and nine live ammunitions were recovered. He was involved in extortion cases, Manipur Police Control Room said on Sunday.

On Saturday security forces recovered arms and ammunition from a village in Churachandpur district. They were recovered from seven miscreants who later escaped taking advantage of mob like situation. The recovered items were one Insas rifle 5.56 mm along with one magazine, one Insaa LMG, one .303 rifle with magazine, one SBBL 12-bore gun, one binocular, one) Khukri with cover, one 12-bore ammunition belt and 59 ammunitions, A case has been registered for further investigation, it added.

On Friday, Manipur Police arrested three active members of proscribed PREPAK organisation from Thangal Bazar, Imphal West who were identified as Ankur Mahawar, 40, Konthoujam Kumar Singh, 46 and Naveen Mahawar, 48.

From their possession three mobile phones and a sum of Rs 1,90,000 in cash were recovered. They were involved in extortion cases, the police control room said.

On Thursday, Manipur Police arrested Haorungbam Pamnganba, 24, for illegal possession of magazine and ammunition from Singjamei Chingamakhong, Imphal West and recovered one magazine, 10 live ammunition and one mobile handset.
