3 militants ‘involved in extortion’ arrested

Imphal: Manipur Police on Wednesday arrested three militants from Imphal East and Kakching districts of Manipur for ‘involvement in extortion activities’.

Two of the militants belong to proscribed outfit PREPAK (Pro). They were identified as Salam Bembem Devi, 42, and Kangabam Sanatomba Singh, 49.

From their possession a sum of Rs 35,000 in cash, one scooter (Honda Activa), three mobile phones, one wallet were recovered. “They were involved in extortion activities”, police said.

In another case, the state police arrested one active member of the outfit KYKL (Sorepa) identified as Khumukcham Brushlee Singh, 18, from Kakching district for ‘involvement in extortion activities’.

From his possession one mobile handset, one MI power bank with USB cable, one Rs 200 note and a two-wheeler vehicle were recovered.
