Imphal: Search operations and area domination were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of Manipur and recover arms and ammunitions from Kakching and Churachandpur districts on Wednesday.
One country made 9mm pistol with magazine, one 36 MMK1 hand grenade without detonator, three 2-inch mortar shell, two BP jackets, one Baofeng hand set with battery, one pair of hunting boot, one white rice bag were recovered from Hiyanglam Hiranmei Hiyangkhong, Kakching, Manipur Police Control Room said.
Two snipers (12-bore), one 9mm pistol with magazine (country made), one gas gun (prahari) MK-II, one .303 rifles (modified) with magazine, four 12-bore single barrel rifles, one tear gas shell long range, one tear smoke grenade prahari MK-IV, one anti riot tear smoke grenade (CS), three anti riot 38mm cartridges with rubber bullet AFK Pune MK-III, one anti riot stun gun, two live rounds and two improvised heavy mortar were recovered from Khengmol Village, Churachandpur.
Movement of 257 and 191 vehicles along NH-37 and NH-2 respectively with essential items has been ensured. Strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations and security convoy is provided in sensitive stretches in order to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles, the police control room said.
A total of 124 checkpoints were installed in different districts of Manipur, and police detained 107 persons in connection with violations in different districts of the state.
The state police department appeals to general public not to believe in rumours and be aware of false videos. Any circulations of unfounded videos etc. may be confirmed from the rumour free number -9233522822 of Central Control room.
It also appeals to public to return ‘the looted arms, ammunition and explosives’ to the police or nearest security forces immediately.
