Arms, drug recovered, 2 rescued from kidnappers

Imphal: Security have recovered arms, ammunitions and bombs as they continued search operations and area domination, in wake of the ongoing narco-terrorism crisis, in the fringe and vulnerable areas of Manipur on Monday.

One .22 Rifle, 39 live ammunitions, seven blank cartridges, 28 ILLUM JMK ammunition, 20 MK 12 T ammunition, 15 HE hand grenades, seven tube launching, one magazine box, one walkie talkie set with charger, one Tripal plastic blue in colour were recovered from Champhai Hill, Imphal East District.

Manipur Police arrested two individuals namely Md. Nurhaman, 51, and Ibem, both residents of Kwakta, Bishnupur, from Terakhongsangbi, Bishnupur district.

From their possession, ssspected opium weighing 5.587 kg and brown colored powder (suspected to be Brown Sugar/Heroin) weighing 1.006 kg were recovered, Manipur Police Control Room said.

In another case, Manipur Police arrested two individuals identified as Khaying Longvah, 44, of Ukhrul and Ngahanyui Kashung, 37 of Kamjong, from Khabeisoi, Imphal East district. From their possession, suspected contraband Heroin powder weighing about 1 Kg and one car were seized.

The state police rescued a kidnapped victim and arrested two individuals identified as Md. Juma Khan, 34, and Ram Bahadur Khadkar, 44, from Imphal East district who were involved in the kidnapping and extortion case.

Manipur Police also rescued another kidnapped person at Thoubal and arrested five individuals identified as Khoirom Sanathoi Meitei, 23, Thokchom Mothomar Meitei, 18, Laisharam Ahendrajit Meitei, 31, Phandom Ango Singh, 18, Haorokcham Chitranjan Singh, 31, who were involved in the kidnapping of the person, the police control room said.

The state police department appeals to public to return the ‘looted arms, ammunition and explosives’ to the police or nearest securithy forces immediately.
