Imphal: Officers of Anti-Smuggling Unit, Customs Division, Imphal, effected seizures of 3 Kg (in 3 packets) of brownish powder ‘suspected to be of Brown Sugar’ from the possession of two persons.
The two persons were identified as Abdul Rahaman son of Sirazudin, resident of Yairipok Tulihal, Mayai Leikai, Yairipok, Keirao Bitra sub-division, Imphal East and Md. Feijuddin son of Haji Abdulhalim, resident of Lilong Chingkham Makha, Thoubal district.
They were detected at Kongba Kshetri Leikai near Standard College, Imphal East on Monday and formally seized at Customs divisional office, Imphal on the same day, the Customs Division said in a press release on Tuesday.
The value of the recovered drugs is estimated at Rs 15 crore in the intemational market. The accused have also been arrested under relevant section of the NDPS Act, 1985. Further investigation to nab the other offender(s) of the case is going on, the release said.
