Imphal: A combined team of Bishnupur Police commandos and a column of 2 Mahar Regiment recovered arms, explosives and combat dresses were recovered from Laingoubi area of Bishnupur district, Manipur on Monday.
The items were recovered during an extensive cordon and search operation conducted in the areas of Wangoo, Borayangbi, Mangjing and Laingoubi, based on a specific information in connection with recent incident of kidnapping, abduction, extortion, movement of armed miscreants, suspected caching of arms and ammunitions etc.
The places, as per sources, have been acting as safe haven for kidnappers/miscreants, police said.
The articles were recovered from an area of Laingoubi which they used as their (armed miscreants) camp.
The recovered items were one .303 Rifle (modified), one Carbine with empty magazine, four 36 HE Hand Grenade with Tube Launching, one country made Pistol, six bullet proof helmets, 19 pairs of shoes, 12 belts, three bullet proof jackets, five caps, one bag, two mattress, dangri and camouflage dress (9 shirts,17 pants and 1Jacket) and medical items in two carton boxes.
The same were seized from the spot and handed over to Kumbi Police station for further necessary action, police said.
