Imphal: A Joint Action Committee (JAC) formed against the ‘brutal’ killing of Takhellambam Rakesh says it will not accept the body of Rakesh until the government or authority concerned book the culprits involved in the incident.
Rakesh was found dead on DM University campus near GP Girls hostel on Saturday. His body was deposited at the RIMS morgue.
Decrying the death of Rakesh, the Yaiskul Women’s Association which was formed by eight localities of the Yaiskul area staged a sit-in at Yaiskul, Imphal West on Sunday.
Working president of the association, RK Ibechoubi told reporters that as per the knowledge of the locality, Rakesh was a good person to the society. Whether he has some misunderstanding with any individual or organisation, it should be warned to the local club or Meira Paibi instead of killing.
“The locality and near ones of Rakesh do not believe that he would commit suicide by leaving his family. The state government or authority concerned should investigate the case thoroughly to find out the cause of dead of Rakesh, she said.
“The JAC will not accept the body until the culprits are booked,” she added.
