Manipur governor appeals people to cooperate police

Imphal: Manipur governor Anusuiya Uikey has appealed the people of the state to cooperate with state forces in maintaining law and order.

Taking serious note of the recent incidents, the governor said, it is high time that people should realise that there are few self styled organisations both in hill and valley districts which are misleading the local populace by creating false propaganda from time to time and urged the people to understand the pivotal role played by Manipur Police in safeguarding the lives and properties of the people.

Director general of police, Manipur, Rajiv Singh called on the governor at Raj Bhavan on Thursday evening and apprised of the prevailing security situation in the state.

The police chief submitted a detailed report on the recent incidents and briefed the governor about his visit to Churachandpur district post February 15 incidents.

Cases of extortion from the general public and transporter associations were also discussed and governor asked the DGP to take stringent action against those involved in the act and to maintain free and safe passage of vehicles in the Highways. The DGP assured the governor that Manipur Police has been working dedicatedly for the safety and security of people of Manipur.
