Imphal: One drug peddler was apprehended with Brown Sugar from Bir Tikendrajit International Airport from the departure lounge of the airport on Monday.
The drug peddler was identified as one Qamrul Huda, 22, son of Md. Abdul Salam of Lilong Bazar, Thoubal district.
It is reported that at around 2:50 pm the surveillance staff of Indigo Airline detected contraband substances, suspected to be Brown Sugar weighing around 2.20 kg was detected at the departure lounge.
The contraband items were detected from Qamrul while excessing to his screened baggage for verification. They were seized and handed over to Singjamei Police Station along with Qamrul for further necessary action.
A case has been registered at Singjamei Police Station.
Recently, 3.155kg of contraband gold biscuits were seized from the airport from two smugglers including one Indigo airline staff.
