Imphal: Local bodies of Khurai protested against demanding huge amount of monetary assistance by threatening the public.
The protest was demonstrated at Eastern Educational Club, Khurai Ahongei, Thangjam Leikai, Imphal East on Saturday. It was organised by Khurai Ahongei Thangjam Leikai Nupi Kanglup, Khurai Ahongei Thangjam leikai Meira Laibi Nupi Lup and Eastern Educational Club.
Vice president of Khurai Ahongei Thangjam Leikai Nupi Kanglup, Wahengbam Suniti told reporters that some unknown persons around 30 in four vehicles came at the residence of one Leitanthem Dhananjoy of the same locality on Friday when he was not at his home.
Dhananjoy runs a shop in the locality.
The unknown persons without identifying their identity demanded for a huge monetary assistance. Similar incident had occurred three times earlier, said Suniti.
She appealed to those unknown persons to identify themselves as such act is creating a panicky situation among the public. If any assistance is required any organisation should inform the Meira Paibi or local club of the area as people are ready to provide any form of assistance, she added.
She urged not to repeat similar incident in the near future.
