Arms recovered from Churachandpur

Imphal: Security forces recovered arms and ammunitions from Churachandpur district during search operations and area domination on Saturday.

Similar operations were conducted in the fringe and vulnerable areas of the state.

Three local made Single Barrel Gun, one local made Pistol, two 9mm ammunition, two country made improvised long range heavy Mortar, one Tear Gas Gun, one Tear Smoke Shell Soft Nose, two Tear Smoke Shell (CS), six Rs 200 Fake Currency notes, one bag from outskirts of D Haolenjang village bordering D Moljang village, Churachandpur district.

One 303 Rifle with magazine, one 9mm pistol with magazine, eight single barrel, one .22mm pistol with magazine, one 9mm CMG (carbine machine gun) with magazine, eight gelatine stick, 52 numbers of 7.62 mm amn of 303 rifle and one icom radio set from general area Moljang, Churachandpur.

On the same day, security forces arrested three persons, namely Naorem Inaotomba Singh, 52, Wahengbam Inaocha, 47 and Wahengbam Homendro Singh, 28, of Bishnupur district at Keishampat Junction, Imphal West district for possession of two SLR Rifles along with two magazines loaded with 20 rounds each. A case has been registered in this regard for further investigation, a police statement said.

The state police department appeals to public to return the ‘looted arms, ammunition and explosives’ to the police or nearest security forces immediately.
