Lilong incident condemned

Imphal: A meeting held at Itola Farm, Lilong Tamyai, Thoubal district in connection with firing incident on Monday at Lilong Chingjao, resulting in the demise of four individuals and injuries to several others unequivocally condemned the ‘intentional shooting’ resulting in the tragic deaths of four individuals and injuries to fourteen others.

The attendees expressed appreciation for the  chief minister Biren’s swift announcement, committing to ensure that the perpetrators of this heinous crime would face punishment.

There was a collective call on the state government to apprehend the barbaric criminals within 48 hours, impose fitting punishments, and transfer the case to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for further investigation.

Recognition was given to MLAs, civil society organisations (CSOs), and public leaders who played a commendable role in preventing the deliberate spread of rumors related to the unfortunate incident. The meeting reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the unity and integrity of Manipur.

A Joint Action Committee (JAC) Against Mass Killing and Brutal Acts at Lilong Chingjao on 1st January, 2024, was formed during the meeting.

In case any state organization seeks to address anti-social elements in and around Lilong area, the concerned party must to inform elected members, clubs, and CSOs of the locality, the meeting resolved.

The JAC pledged to submit a memorandum to the government, urging the conversion of resolutions into actions.

The JAC called for cooperation from clubs and organizations in supporting democratic agitations, if the demand is not implemented within the stipulated time.
