Imphal: Irate demonstrators in Imphal street took up protest rally denouncing the Kuki militants attack to state police forces at different locations in Moreh killing two personnel and injuring three others on Wednesday.
“Chief minister! Take up arms and fight as you have said,” the protestors shouted as they marched the rally.
National secretary of Republican party of India (Athawale), Maheshwar Thaonaojam compared Kuki militants as terrorist of Pakistan and urged the central government to remove central forces from Manipur if they are to be remain as silent spectator after series of attacks to state forces.
Maheshwar was speaking to reporters on Wednesday at RIMS mortuary, Lamphel, Imphal after state police deposited the body of the IRB jawan who was killed by suspected Kuki militants at border town Moreh.
Many people are dying in the present crisis (Meitei-Kuki conflict) and Kuki militants are attacking the state forces with advanced sophisticated weapons which are used during the war. Union Home minister Amit Shah and NIA had already told that the present crisis of Manipur is not a communal crisis but an act of external aggression, Maheshwar said.
He said under article 355 law and order of a state is to be handled by the central government. If external aggression is there in the crisis of Manipur then why the central government is still remaining as a mute spectator instead of issuing order to the 80,000 central forces that are deployed to handle the violence, he questioned.
“If the central forces are to be kept here as a mute spectator then the central government should remove all the 80,000 forces that are deployed here in the state.
