Imphal: The 2- day state wide bandh imposed by JAC against the brutal killing of Takhellambam Manoranjan Singh paralysed Imphal on the first day, no unwanted incident was reported.
The state wide bandh was imposed after chief minister N. Biren Singh failed to fulfil the demands made by the JAC within 24 hours.
The JAC had demanded to remove ineffective central forces from the state and to enforce state forces. It also demanded to handover the unified command of law and order of Manipur to the chief minister, to withdraw SoO agreement signed between Kuki militants and Centre, to stop divide and rule police, and to implement NRC in Manipur.
The bandh began at 5 am of Monday.
The bandh supporters were seen blocking the roads at Khurai Lamlong and other main roads of the Imphal city.
Khwairamband market including other markets wore deserted look, transport services were not seen during the the bandh. However, essential services, people going for ritual occasion were seen.
Educational institutions and financial institutions were shut down. Essential services were not disturbed.
