Imphal: During the last 24 hours, the situation in the State was tense but under control with sporadic firing and congregation of protestors, said Manipur Police Control Room on Sunday.
Search operations and area domination were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Tengnoupal and Bishnupur districts.
During the operations one M16 rifle, one magazine of M16 rifle, eight live rounds of 5.56 mm ammunition, one country made 9mm pistol with one magazine, 11 (eleven) 36 HE Hand qrenade, 9 (nine) tube Launcher and 4 (four) ballistic cartridges were recovered from Bishnupur district.
The police control room did not mention to whom the weapons belong.
Combing operations were conducted in Koutruk, Kadangband, Maphou Kuki village-Sailejang village under Thoubal Dam PS and Moreh areas by security forces.
Police detained 237 persons in connection with violations in different districts of the state.
The police control room appeals to general public to return the ‘looted arms, ammunition and explosives’ to the police or nearest security forces immediately.
