Newborn Resource Centre inaugurated

Imphal: Manipur Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Sapam Ranjan Singh on Wednesday inaugurated the State Newborn Resource Centre, JNIMS (Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences) and launched the SAANS (Social Awareness and Action to Neutralize Pneumonia Successfully) Campaign 2023-24 at JNIMS, Imphal.

Pneumonia is a common, preventable, treatable disease if precautionary steps are taken at the right time. Since the disease is preventable, the department is giving emphasis in spreading awareness to the people, the minister said.

He said the posters giving awareness about the disease need to be reached in every nook and corner of the state and for this, the department can upload on the social media platform too.

The minister also acknowledged the role played by the ASHAs at the grassroots level. He lauded the ASHAs for their commendable work during the COVID-19 pandemic and in making the ‘Chief Minister Health for All’ scheme a successful one.

He appealed to the media fraternity to actively participate and raise awareness about the disease to the general masses.

As the number of Covid cases rises in South India, the department in coordination with the union Health ministry is taking up necessary steps in case of any eventuality, the minister said.
