Disqualify 5 MLAs who joined BJP after elected on JD(U) tickets: JD(U) Manipur

Imphal: Janata Dal (United), Manipur State Unit has requested Speaker/Chairman of Manipur Legislative Assembly for disqualification of 5 MLAs who were elected under the party seat but has joined BJP.

The 5 MLAs who were elected on the party’s ticket are Khumukcham Joykisan Singh, MLA, 9-Thangmeiband Assembly Constituency (AC); Ngursanglur Sanate, MLA, 55-Tipaimuk A/C; Achab Uddin, 40-Jiribam A/C; Thangjam Arunkumar Singh, MLA, 15-Wangkhei A/C; and LM Khaute, MLA, 58-Churachandpur A/C.

In a press note issued and signed by secretary general, Janata Dal (United), Manipur State Unit, M. Dorendro Singh on Wednesday mentioned that “as per party’s decision, a fresh petition under paragraph 2(1)(a) and (2) of the 10th schedule r/w Article 191(2) of the Constitution of India signed by Mangsatabam Surjit, general secretary (Organisation), Janata Dal (United), “Manipur State Unit requesting for disqualification of 5 JD(U) MLAs who had joined BJP party.”

Secretary general of JD(U) urged Speaker/Chairman, Manipur Legislative Assembly to take necessary action at the earliest in the interest of the people of Manipur.
