Two including one KNA ‘lance corporal’ arrested at Indo-Myanmar border in Manipur

Imphal: A combined team of security forces nabbed two persons including a self-styled lance corporal of Kuki National Army (KNA) from Indo-Myanmar border town Moreh in Tengnoupal district of Manipur, on Wednesday.

The two persons were identified as Seikholun Vaiphei, 35, son of Thangpao Vaiphei of Zion Veng Tuinom Part 4, Moreh, lance corporal of KNA posted at Moreh under self-styled Let. Lunmang Haikip alias Mamang; and Lupho Otminlal Hangmi, 19, son of LetngamLupho Hangmi of Yangoupokpi village, Moreh.

They were apprehended during a search operation launched by a combined team of Special CDO, Moreh CDO, Thoubal CDO, Kakching CDO, 5th IRB, 5th AR, 181 BSF, 156 BSF and 192 BSF stationed at Moreh at J.H.Vajang village, Haolemkhopi village, S.T. Moullenphai village and Yangoupokpi village.

As the team started searching the hill terrain and river bank at Yangoupokpi village, two persons in a very suspicious manner were detained and verified, a police report said.

Vaiphei disclosed that he joined KNA in October, 2004 under army no. 1483 of the 22nd batch trained at Minou, Moreh near AR camp, it added.

One aadhar card, driving license, PMJAY card, one Real Me handset with one Airtel and one Myanmar sim card and one Jupiter scooter without regd. No. red in colour was recovered from his possession, it said.

A One Plus Android mobile handset with  Airtel mobile no. 7085236318 and Myanmar sim mob. No. 754860869 was recovered from the possession of Hangmi.

They were arrested at 4.30 pm from the river bank beside the hill terrain of Yangoupokpi village and handed over to Moreh Police station for further legal action., the police report said.
