Release 2 teenagers: Students

Imphal: Don Bosco, Langjing students staged rally in front of the school on Tuesday for safty of two teenagers who went missing when they went to take part in a ceremony at Koubru temple in Sekmai.

The missing students include a 16-years old students of Don Bosco High School, Langjing.

The two teenagers were Avinash Maibam alias Khaba, 16, son of M. Hemanta and Ningthoujam Anthony alias Temba, 19, son of late N. Sunder both from Akham Awang Leikai under the jurisdiction of Lamshang Police station.

They reportedly went on a two wheeler (Jawa motorcycle) bearing registration number MN01AN-3387 to take part in a ceremony on Sunday morning.

Avinash Maibam was a student of class X at Don Bosco High School, Langjang, Imphal West.

A student in the rally said, “The students of the school demonstrate against the unfortunate act of arresting or kidnapping one of our fellow student, Avinash along with one of his companion.”

It has been long since students lost peace and tranquillity in the academic atmosphere with the unrest in Manipur.

The students appealed the authority concerned for safe release of the duo.

They pray for restoration of peace and tranquillity in the state.

The students demonstrated with placards that reads “stop kidnapping students”, “violence never counted sweetest”, “save the life of innocent people”, “ release Avinash Maibam and Anthony” and other.

The mobile phones of the two missing teenagers were found in a black polythene after the police saw a light signal in the dark when they were dialing the number of the mobile phones. One of the mobile phones was switched off and the other was in silent mode.

The phones were found just 2-3 km from Taphou Kuki, said a report.

Search operation was made at Khengjang, Langnom and Gampiphai under Sapermeina Police station, Kangpokpi district. No trace have been able to trace the young boys.
